They just changed my schedule at work, but life is still good! With the weekends off, I’m still free to enjoy this fabulous Las Vegas entertainment. And, I’m taking full advantage of the “Summer of ‘69″ event on Fremont Street.

Last Saturday, my sister and I enjoyed Rare Earth in concert. Even got to meet them in a post-concert autograph session. Boy, what a bunch of super, down-to-earth guys they are, and still sound great as always.

“Summer of ‘69: Vegas or Bust” is proving to be a true happening from days gone by.  Right before kickoff, a dance number to “Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In” broke out at Fremont Street Experience. Fremont Street in Downtown Las Vegas is hosting a summer-long festival honoring the iconic Summer of 1969.

Every night from Memorial Day to Labor Day Fremont Street Experience will treat you to a blast from the past with free entertainment including groovy bands, an amazing show with acrobats and songs: Psychedelic Trip: A Hippie Bus Street Party, and one of a kind Viva Vision Light and Sound shows including and amazing piece by John Van Hamersveld called Signs of Life.

Laugh Your Way Through Las Vegas Shows

Las Vegas is the ultimate destination for anybody looking for that great show full of laughter and drama. This city offers you plenty of distractions and attractive sideshows while you wait for show time. You will never find yourself waiting around not knowing what to do. You will probably wish you had more time to experience everything that this amazing city has to offer.

Las Vegas caters to all tastes and has some rather racy shows lined up for those who are up to it. The other, less steamy ones are no less entertaining though and offer great entertainment for multi age groups.

Las Vegas offers numerous comedy spots and some enjoyable comedy magic acts are playing at various casinos. The admission prices are very affordable and a great value for all the laughs. Here are is a video of just a few of the madmen of comedy magic who can usually be found performing around Las Vegas casinos and comedy spots:

The Sopranos Last Supper is an entertaining musical comedy. It has a cast of 20 actors and the show appeals to you at many levels. Tickets for this fantastic show are priced at a minimum of $95, which is considered a steal. It is real value for money when you think about the unforgettable once-in-a-lifetime experience you will have. The duration of the show is a little over two hours and guarantees you will leave with sore feet and sides brought on by all the dancing and laughing. The Sopranos last Supper is the ultimate Las Vegas experience which includes dancing, singing and great Italian food in a show that encourages audience participation. This show is staged at the Aladdin every night from Thursday to Tuesday. Show time is 6:00pm.

Enjoy the classic, “high-stepping” musical comedy from the mind of the foremost genius of comedy Mel Brooks at Paris Hotel and Casino. “The Producers” has won won more awards than any show in history, including 12 Tony® Awards. The storyline is a comedy classic: Max Bialistock, a crooked producer (played by Tony Danza)and his accountant cook up a scheme to present a theatrical catastrophe – and pocket their investors’ money before the curtain falls. Their only problems is the show’s unpredictable success.

The Las Vegas Hilton stages Menopause the Musical, which gives you an irreverent inside look at women growing older in today’s world. This show has been acclaimed worldwide for its rather honest insight into life for women before, during and after ‘the change’.

Tony N Tina’s Wedding, which is playing at Rio, gives you a rather rare and funny insight at dysfunctional America. This show encourages active audience participation, so be warned. You won’t be sedately seated in one of those comfortable chairs in an opera hall. Here you pay a price to entertain as well as to be entertained. You are part of the show, not part of the audience. The fee includes a great meal, a couple of dances, a piece of wedding cake and a glass of champagne so you can raise a toast to the newly married couple. This show is not unlike a big Italian wedding, full of fun and revelry.

There are plenty of options to choose from, each one more tempting than the other. Every show has its own different theme and attraction. It really is extremely difficult to nail down just one or two that you absolutely must see. All of them are good and cater to different tastes and ages. If you plan a trip to Las Vegas, be sure to keep aside time to take in some of these world famous shows. Make reservations in advance if possible. If the show you’ve set your heart on is running houseful, well you can always choose another equally good show on this trip and maybe come back again to Las Vegas to take in everything you missed the first time around.

Fremont Street Experience – Entertainment Schedule For “Summer of ‘69″

One of the best (if not THE best) summertime values in Las Vegas are the FREE concerts at The Fremont Street Experience.  They are almost one of the best kept secrets in Las Vegas, because they aren’t heavily advertised.  But, we’re talking big name musicians…like The Guess Who, Johnny Rivers, ELO2, Starship, Badfinger, Marshall Tucker Band, and Kansas.

Now, listen up baby boomers!  You’re going to love this.

The FSE management has just released this summer’s schedule of events, and WOW…is it a great one!  The theme will be “Summer Of ‘69 – Vegas or Bust”.  Get out the tie-dyed T’s, because this is Farm Out, Right Arm, Peas and Gravy.  No..wait a minute.  Far Out, Right On, Peace and Groovy.  Yeah, that’s it.  (Hey, it’s been awhile.)  Anyway, check it out…

SUMMER OF ‘69 – VEGAS OR BUST

Saturday, May 23 – The Guess Who

Sunday, May 24 – Blood, Sweat & Tears

Saturday, June 6 – Rare Earth

Saturday, June 6 – Bill Haley’s Comets

Friday, July 3 – Big Brother & The Holding Company

Saturday, July 4 – The Grass Roots

Saturday, July 18 – Jefferson Starship

Saturday, July 25 – The 5th Dimension

Woodstock TributePalooza

See the best Woodstock lineup this side of Bethel, NY every night Friday,

August 14 through Sunday, August 16.  Performances by the world’s best

homages to Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Joe Cocker, Sly and the Family Stone,

The Grateful Dead and The Who presented by Legends in Concert.

Saturday, September 5 – Canned Heat

Sunday, September 6 – Three Dog Night

I’ve seen They Guess Who perform on Fremont Street twice, and even got a chance to meet them.  No, Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman aren’t with them.  But, most of the performing members have been with the group during their heyday, and they still sound absolutely great!

So, if you’re planning a Las Vegas NV Vacation this summer…I hope this helps you schedule it so you can see your favorite group(s) and have a very memorable summer stay in beautiful Las Vegas!  We hope to see you soon.  :)
