Fremont Street Entertainment
Music-lovers can find almost any style of live music from Rock to Jazz to Regge in Las Vegas, and it’s about to get even better! Renovation in the downtown area on Fremont Street (now known as The Fremont Street Experience) is moving at a quick pace as it moves farther East…past the El Cortez to 8th Street & Fremont.
Personally, I have always favored downtown Las Vegas over the Strip. The Fremont Street Experience light show offers plenty of glitz, but you can sink your teeth into a more personal venue and down-to-earth flavor there than you will find on the Strip. It’s like a small town within a city. To see it all you only have to walk 10 blocks…not 10 miles.
Besides the Fremont Street Experience light show, one of the most enjoyable features of Fremont Street are the musicians. As you stroll under the Fremont Street Experience canopy, you will be treated to some of Las Vegas’ very talented, outstanding musical artists. And…it’s all Free!
One of my personal favorites is a virtuoso with a saxophone, named Carl Ferris. Carl never fails to draw a big crowd of admirers with his haunting jazz tunes, very pleasant singing voice, and upbeat performance. Carl is also an accomplished composer, and wrote Fremont Street’s official theme song (which you will hear in the following video).
The exciting part is…things are getting even better. Fremont Street renovation is moving East and filling up with quality pubs and clubs, and more are coming. Word on the street says the new clubs must offer live entertainment in order to maintain their licenses. LV Metro has put forth an outstanding effort to get drug trafficers off of East Fremont and made it a much safer place for tourists and locals alike. Luxury condominium towers and lofts are currently under construction in the downtown area and more are coming.
Mark my words…at some point in the future, Fremont Street will be the new entertainment hot spot in Las Vegas. Plan on spending an entire day and evening enjoying the sights and music on Fremont Street during your next Las Vegas NV vacation.
